As a difficult year for the hospitality industry draws to a close, one Twin Cities restaurant group is giving back to restaurant workers. On Tuesday, Red Cow and Red Rabbit restaurant locations will offer complimentary meals to restaurant workers. The offer runs 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
“2020 has been a challenging year for all of us, but especially for those in the restaurant industry,” said Luke Shimp, the owner of the restaurants, in a statement. “We want to do our part and give back to an industry and community that has done so much for our family.”
No industry in the state has experienced job losses this year on the level of leisure and hospitality. As of October, there were more than 67,000 fewer workers in the state’s leisure and hospitality sector compared to the same time last year, representing a 24.5% decline year-over-year, according to an analysis of unemployment statistics by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.
To secure their complimentary meal, hospitality industry workers need only call into a convenient Red Cow or Red Rabbit location and select their order from a special service industry menu. They’ll be asked to provide a 2020 paystub and ID at pickup.
